Right/Left Backs
Even before Cresswell's injury I was surprised that there had been no noise of us trying to sign at least a right back and left back cover. Now with the news that Cresswell may be out for 5-6 months, surely we have to get someone in, especially with the potentially added games this year, need cover even for the younger lads, just in case.

I still stand by the fact Antonio is not a right back, not his fault, but he has been shown up as not being good enough there, he is much better further forward.

Trouble is, what is out there at the moment?

Right Backs:

Sagna / Zabaleta - Would Pep be looking to clear out either of them? Both would be excellent options for us as first choice RB, even given their age.

Darmian - Would Mourinho shift him out? Again, to have an established Right Back would be better I feel for us than Antonio starting there.

Debucy - What's happening with him? Surely they have cover with Bellerin and Jenkinson (Yeah, I know.) Trouble is there are question marks over whether Debuchy is any good, from what I've seen he would be better there than Antonio though.

Glen Johnson - Tricky one this as I feel that Stoke are on par with us, they have a great squad (Butland, Shaqiri, Arnautovic to name a few) who have the potential to achieve better things in my opinion. I also don't know whether they have cover at right back? Maybe the pull of him coming back to his boy club may be worth a punt.

Danilo - Crazy one, Real Madrid, 25, probably little chance.

Jallet - Lyon right back, getting on but could be worth a punt, not seen much of him though so this is just a suggestion, wouldn't know if he is any good.

Tripper - This would be the one I would go all out for and I'm surprised we didn't when he was a free transfer. He was brilliant during his time at Burnley, proven PL full back, surprised we haven't considered this, would be tricky as he's Spurs and they would play hard ball I imagine. Still worth asking.

Left Backs:

Clichy / Kolarov - Probably no chance unless Pep wants to bring his own in.

Gibbs - He seems to be second fiddle to Monreal, probably no chance of this either though.

Amavi - Villa (should probably swerve, but maybe in a better team he could be an option.

Mings - Anybody know what sort of contract he is on?

Brady - Norwich. Can play a number of positions, may be useful in the Europa too if progress.

There are options out there and in an ideal scenario I'd like us to sign at least one right back and one left back.

Re: Right/Left Backs
Look back on all of the players we've signed in these positions since the Davids took over. Apart from Cresswell and Byram, all stop gaps! They dont give a shit about full backs.

If we get anyone in as cover will be on loan.

Rico Henry or Charlie Taylor (Byram's old team mate)

Re: Right/Left Backs
Micah Richards available for 5 mill..

I think a full back that can play both right and left would be perfect. ex Man U player Rafael was mentioned. He would be a great addition.

Re: Right/Left Backs
Don't know about RB but I'd be amazed if the spuds would sell us Trippier (unless we paid them a kings ransom that is)

Re: Right/Left Backs
I don't see much of a problem at right back.

Byram has years ahead of him, and if he didn't sign in January we'd have all been saying he's perfect this summer. For some reason he's ignored on here which I don't understand.

Also, say if we do sign a right back, he needs to be better than what we already have. Then it means Byram goes down the pecking order and there's no place for Antonio at all because Bilic clearly Bilic has just signed Lanzini, Tore and Feghouli.

I'm happy with Antonio and Byram. Otherwise we're increasing the premiership 25 man squad and european squad when we already have the numbers.

As for left back, the kid Henry sounds ideal. Just tuned 19, and been in the england under 19 setup.

Re: Right/Left Backs
I trust Slav to turn Antonio into a top RB. If not there is Byram.

LB we have Cresswell then Page....thats good enough for me

Probably worth bringing in a defender that can cover both such as Flanagan or Zabaleta on loan

Trippier i'd love but cant see Spurs selling to us

Re: Right/Left Backs
Micah Richards is a good shout for RB NOT CB mind u just as RB as that's where he originally got in the England team ...can u imagine Richards at RB and Antonio in front of him...u wouldn't fancy being a left winger against those 2 beasts!!

I-Ron

I also dont see how all of a sudden Antonio is now not considered a midfielder.

I would have Antonio in my 11 in front of Tore, Feghouli and Lanzini if I had too. The guy is that much of an attacking threat. Going to be a waste seeing him at RB.

I'm not too worried about the defense cover for Cresswell but the offensive cover. Those goals he scores and those wicked crosses he sends in.

Re: Right/Left Backs
We have cover for both positions. Unfortunately for some of our supporters, we are not in a place where we can have 2 worldy full backs sitting on the bench.

Re: Right/Left Backs
Would Corluka be worth a go?

Vast experience and has played in England, obvious Bilic connnection, can play right back and centre back, looks good in a water polo hat.

Re: Right/Left Backs
Rico Henry does sound ideal. Can't see much point in spending big wages on an experienced player like Clichy, etc. for cover/competition for Cresswell.

Re: Right/Left Backs
dealcanvey,

I dunno how you're baffled by it considering Antonio's been playing right back under Bilic and Bilic has just signed wingers to play there

It's quite obvious to be honest?

Chillwell going Liverpool ain't he? Just rejected a new deal at Leicester and supposedly going for £8m

I'd stick to Henry as walsall won't be asking for insane money, surely
